Not Worth the Effort

I recently discovered a great jazz piano player who was popular from 1930 to 1950: Harry "the Hipster" Gibson. His songs have these hilarious "jive talk" lyrics (see Cab Calloway's Jive Dictionary), and the music is great. I just bought two of his CDs:

• Boogie Woogie in Blue

The first is a relatively recent (1990) recording of his old stuff. The second is from the '40s -- the CD is now out of print, but I bought it on eBay. Take a listen to the samples on Amazon. I blew my wig listening to this solid cat!
