After Katrina, Baton Rouge Weathers a Storm of Its Own 

A good article about post-Katrina Baton Rouge from the Washington Post:

Vacation in the Desert 

We "won" an item at the Women's Resource Commitee Auction in order to get a week long stay in a condo in Indio. It was extremely hot (highs around 115), but the good news was that there weren't many people there (surprise!). We basically had the pool to ourselves and it was right outside our back door.
