Thomas Wins Essay Contest

Thomas was one of three finalists at his school in this year's Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library Essay Contest.

The topic of the essay was the book you would most want to have with you if you were stranded on a desert island. Leave it to Thomas to have a unique take on this....

I’m stranded on a desert island and I’m bored. So what do I want with me? Why, the Guinness Book of World Records 2006, by Guinness world records, of course!

With that book, I could try to break a desert island record, such as climbing a coconut tree in the fastest time, or maybe longest time balancing on one foot! Then, if I got bored of those, I could move on to underwater juggling and then standing motionless for the longest time. Finally, I could work for weeks on the largest sand sculpture! See, with a world records book around, you can always try to break a record.

It's Official!

Last week, HP publicly announced the photo kiosk project that I've been working on for the past nine months: HP Photosmart Express. We got a lot of great coverage; here is an article from the San Jose Mercury News.

The press release was scheduled a few days before the big Photo Marketing Association trade show (PMA) in Orlando so that there would be a buzz going before the show. It worked. I attended the show on Sunday and Monday and our area was the busiest on the show floor. People were blown away by the print quality and the 50-year guaranteed lifetime of the photos.
